Wallpaper Hanging Instructions

Important: Please read through these instructions carefully before beginning. We recommend hiring a professional decorator for the best results.

Before You Begin

  • All wallpapers are printed to order. Please check your order immediately to ensure the correct color, pattern, and quantity.
  • Refunds will only be given for faults in the print or pattern repeat, such as misalignments or errors in the pattern.
  • We strongly recommend ordering a sample to ensure the color and design meet your expectations.
  • To calculate how much wallpaper you will need, use a wallpaper calculator and consult a professional decorator to confirm the number of rolls required for your project.

Preparation

  • Ensure your walls are dry, clean, and smooth. Remove any old wallpaper and flaking paint.
  • For painted surfaces, sand lightly to create a better grip for the adhesive.
  • For the best results, we recommend cross-lining the walls with high-quality lining paper. This helps smooth the surface and improves adhesion.
  • The lining paper must be fully dry before applying the wallpaper.

Pasting and Hanging

  • This is a paste-the-wall wallpaper. Apply the adhesive to the wall, not the wallpaper. Use a solvent-free, fungicide-protected, ready-mixed tub adhesive for best results.
  • Spread the paste evenly over a section of the wall slightly wider than the wallpaper’s width.
  • Carefully apply the wallpaper, ensuring it aligns with a vertical guideline (use a plumbing line or spirit level).
  • Smooth the wallpaper from the center outward with a decorator’s brush to remove air bubbles.
  • Avoid squeezing excess paste around the seams as if the paste directly touches the wallpaper it may damage the surface. If any paste does touch the wallpaper, gently remove it while it’s still moist using a clean, damp sponge.
  • Ensure your hands are clean and dry throughout the process to avoid marking the wallpaper.

Love All Things Quirky does not accept responsibility for any marks or damage caused by paste during the installation process by the consumer.

Cutting and Seams

  • Use a sharp blade or wallpaper cutter to trim excess paper at the top and bottom of each strip.
  • When applying the next strip, butt the seams together without overlapping, ensuring the pattern aligns perfectly.
  • Extra care should be taken with dark wallpapers. Use a dark decorator’s crayon along the edges of each strip to ensure a clean, seamless finish.

As our wallpapers are printed to order, please ensure you’ve purchased enough rolls to complete your project. We cannot be held responsible for color variations caused by separate print batches if additional rolls are ordered later.
